A Good Trip Aug 22, 2009 Just watched Across the Universe. I knew all the words and sang along. What happened to all those idealists? I'm a huge Beatles fan. The idealists are still around. I hope. Janga on August 22, 2009 at 11:58 pm I thought the movie had some great scenes, and I loved the music! I too knew all the words. I've seen the movie three times. Watching it is like time traveling. Some of the idealists are still around, Maggie, just seasoned and saner. Have you read Tom Brokaw's Boom!: Talking About the Sixties? Maggie Robinson w/a Margaret Rowe on August 23, 2009 at 5:18 am Janga, I did read Boom. But I keep thinking every time I watch a Town Hall meeting and people are screaming "I want my country back" what happened to the hippies. I wonder what country they're talking about, and where they think it's gone. Ely, the movie is fabulous, trippy, really interesting juxtaposing it with the world today. Sorry that I'm all philosophical/political here. Maggie Robinson w/a Margaret Rowe on August 23, 2009 at 5:20 am And a lot of the movie is on YouTube (with Spanish subtitles, LOL…que?). If you watch the musical numbers, you'll get a sense of its ambition. The official website is interesting too. TerriOsburn on August 24, 2009 at 11:37 am I haven't seen this movie. I need to add it to my netflix. The idealists hit middle age and got tired of fighting. (I'm guessing.) I'm with you on these town hall nitwits. Too bad the voice of ignorance is so damn loud.
